EVENT GUIDE TOP 5 Shania, Freo Folk Fest, Nutcracker and more…

A month out from Christmas, the festive season already seems to have begun here in Perth. Everywhere you turn your head there seems to be something going on to suit every interest. This week’s top 5, as always, comes from our Event Guide which is your one-stop shop for what’s going on in Perth each week. 1. Shania Twain

90s country-pop songstress Shania Twain is taking over the colossal stage of Perth Arena this Friday, much to the joy of her decades of die-hard fans. It’s hard to know if these international legends will ever be back, so take up this opportunity while it’s here.


2. Fremantle Folk Festival

Taking place in the quaint Princess May Park in the surrounds of Clancy’s Fish Pub this Saturday is the Fremantle Folk Festival, featuring artists such as Things of Stone and Wood, Grace Barbe, Bob Evans, Peter Bibby, Jack Davies & the Bush Chooks, The Little Lord Street Band and plenty more. Things kick off from 1pm so head down to admire this bevy of talent.


3. The Nutcracker

The classic Christmas tale is being performed by the West Australian Ballet, having started yesterday (Wednesday) and is running until December 9. For the full list of dates and session times, click here – but hurry! Many sessions have already sold out.


4. Holy Holy

After a stellar feature at The Drop festival down south earlier this year, Holy Holy are back in Perth embarking on their Faces national tour. They’ll be dropping into Mojos Bar this evening (Thursday) and Rosemount Hotel (Friday) alongside Clews and San Mei.


5. Local launches

This weekend local supergroup The Polite Society launch at The Civic HotelThe Bird hosts a number of exciting single launches from RibsAh Trees and Moana, while Savanah and the Strays (pictured) launch new track Salt of the Earth at the Bassendean HotelGet along and support your locals.
