One of the highlights of the festival goes down on Saturday, May 5, with the first ever Day on the Plain – a live music event starring legendary Australian musicians at the historic Jimbour Station. The Jimbour Amphitheatre is set host some of Australia’s best rock and roll artists, including WA legends and recent WAM Fall-of-Famers Eurogliders, Wendy Matthews, Joe Camilleri & The Black Sorrows, Glenn Shorrock, Richard Clapton, Frankie J Holden and Wilbur Wilde.

Day on the Plain
It’s just one part of the Big Skies festival, which also includes the 106th Dalby Picnic Races, Cinema Under the Stars, Hot Air Balloon breakfasts and stargazing experiences with a guided tour of the galaxy. Best of all many of the events are free and the Western Downs Regional Council wants to extend an invitation to everyone across Australia to check out their unique corner of the world. If you’re after a different kind of getaway this year, this is definitely one you should have in your sights.

Big Skies Festival runs from April 28 to May 6 with Day on the Plain happening on Saturday, May 5. For more information about the Western Downs Region and the festival program head to the Big Skies website.
