Dark Mofo, Mona’s winter festival (June 8–21) , has released its second phase line up announcement, with more shadowy sounds and spectacles scheduled for Hobart, Launceston, and regional Tasmania, Australia.
Pussy Riot (Russia) (pictured), GAIKA (UK), LE1F (USA), Nai Palm, Marco Fusinato + Striborg, Dark Mofo Films, the Welcome Stranger lineup, Hermann Nitsch in Conversation (Austria) and more lead the second line up.

Highlights include members of Russian feminist punk collective Pussy Riot in Australia for a screening of Evgeny Mitta’s extraordinary documentary, Act and Punishment (2015) on Wednesday, June 14, about the activists and their incarceration for undermining “moral foundations” and offending “religious feelings” (Putin), followed by a Q&A with Pussy Riot’s Maria “Masha” Alyokhina and Alexander “Sasha” Bogino.
Plus there’s the huge bill featuring Melbourne’s Gold Class, retro pop-punk group RVG (Romy Vager Group), raw rock from New York-based Scott and Charlene’s Wedding plus synthy post-punk from Hobart’s own Chloe Alison Escott on Saturday, June 10; and the explosive, progressive grime of Brixton performance artist and musician GAIKA, joined by London rapper Kojey Radical’s urban hip-hop, and R&B from Australia’s own Kandere on Sunday, June 11.
Dark Mofo’s late night pop-up Welcome Stranger has also announced a program that includes a Pussy Riot DJ set, New York riot boi Le1f, San Franciscan funk maverick Doug Hream Blunt.
