Cold weather messing with your skin and hair? Products designed to combat dryness might be called for. Oils are found in a lot of options these days for a reason: they’re ripe with hydrating benefits.
If facing (huh!) a dry complexion, Sisley’s Black Rose Precious Face Oil ($250) includes black rose extract, essential oils of Bulgarian rose and magnolia, plum oil, and camelina oil. Keep in mind you’ll only need a couple of drops a day.
Pure argan oil provides the base of the Josie Maran skincare collection, available at Mecca Maxima and Kit. “Luxury With A Conscience” is the brand’s ethos. Aside from moisture-focused options, Maran offers everything from Argan Exfoliating Cleansing Powder ($50) to the argan oil-infused Bear Naked Makeup Wipes ($15).
Those on the hunt for a new product should check out Clinique’s Turnaround Revitalizing Specialists collection with a lightweight treatment oil ($60, launching June) in the mix.
Switching up your cleansing routine is another idea. The Cosmedix Purity Solution Nourishing Deep Cleansing Oil ($52) boasts a number of oils, including argan, olive, moringa seed, and safflower seed.
In terms of body complexion care Trilogy’s reformulated their Hydrating Body Cream ($25.95). The product contains certified organic rosehip oil and sweet almond oil. The brand’s in-house beauty expert Corinne Morley says, “The single best thing you can do to combat dry winter skin is to switch to a nourishing oil-based cream which offers long-lasting hydration. The mica in Trilogy Ultra Hydrating Body Cream lends a hint of summer radiance. It’s also a great skin preparation in your winter bronzing regime.”
Seasonal denial and a faux-summer feel can be helped along by the limited edition shimmering body oil spray ($80) from Estee Lauder that’s part of the Bronze Goddess Shimmering Nudes collection launching May 31st. Perfect for the bare leg fashion trend this winter.
A body moisturiser with a citrus scent can be a refreshing choice on a cold day. The Soap and Glory Orangeasm Body Butter ($22) from Mecca Maxima and Kit is a zesty choice, courtesy of Sicilian lemon and sweet orange peel oils.
Chapped skin on your hands can be an annoying cold season side effect. An affordable boost is Revitanail’s Hand and Nail Cream (19.95), which lists avocado oil as an ingredient.
A handy all-rounder for the bathroom cabinet, Go-To Exceptionoil ($49.95) is great for heels, elbows, and cuticles. Think ten different oils and a pretty luscious tropical scent thanks to macerated gardenia blossoms in coconut oil.
The Olive Oil Bath and Massage Oil range ($23.50 each) from Vasse Virgin in Margaret River create a variety of relaxing, beneficial soaks that won’t dry skin.
On the hair front, if your strands require help the Loréal Professionnel Mythic Oil Sérum de Force ($42) with both a scalp and hair focus, might prove a solid investment, due partly to the inclusion of evening primrose oil.
A hair mask is another possibility for those fighting frizz. The Kevin.Murphy Hydrate-Me.Masque ($49.95) is a conditioning treatment containing rosehip and evening primrose oil.
In terms of your actual hair shade, Redken’s Chromatic Ultra Rich is a recent professional in-salon hair colour range described as monochromatic. The collection has a focus on shine; oils are included alongside dye in the mixture.
