Brisbane band Bugs are back with a brand new single and it turns out we just Can’t Get Enough of the Brisbane three-piece. As their first release of 2020, this upbeat indie pop-punk anthem is a fitting addition to any isolation playlist and (hopefully) any future live set.

The tune opens up with an all too relevant line asking, “Are you lazy, or just bored?” and in true Bugs’ style welcomes the listener softly as it builds towards the erupting chorus this track delivers. We once again get a taste of drummer Brock Weston’s production skills as he recorded and mixed this release himself, explaining the punchy instrumentals lending the beloved trio the punk vibe they are carefully cultivating with each new track. Over this, lead vocalist Connor Brooker’s crooning voice is as standout as it is recognisable, belting out each catchy line.

Clocking in at just 2:49 minutes, the track feels almost too short for its bouncy anthem-like aesthetic and ensures this earworm will be played on repeat. Despite the length, and repetitive nature, it still manages to capture the message exploring what happens when you get what you think you want. As Brooker recently explained: “It’s about the cycle of how our entitlement feeds our addiction, leading us in the pursuit of an unattainable goal or horizon.”

“If you’re searching for something better, that implies you don’t appreciate the things that you have. Maybe the grass looks greener on the other side because you haven’t watered your yard…?” he continued.

The high energy and ever-loveable three piece were originally touring with WAAX at this time, with these dates now rescheduled due to COVID-19.  You can now catch them at Mojos on October 8, and at The Rosemount on October 9.
