The Icelandic singer-songwriter Asgeir is at it again with latest track Stardust – a near four-minute cosmic filling of deep soul and enticing folk deeply entwined into a pleasingly audible mixture. Great on the ears, it’s icy cool flavour makes the track an easy pleaser.
The burgeoning sound in Stardust carries over the feel and characteristics that are symptomatic of the latest album Afterglow. Contrasting greatly with the tone of Asgeir’s previous record In the Silence, Asgeir takes that pleasant folk sound and rockets it out through the stratosphere and into some new, musically mystical space.
It opens and flows like a ripple effect, basically lilting you along. It just shows the Icelandic maestro has gone a long way since the days of jamming in his hometown of forty-something people.
